Most tourists staying at Niagara on the Lake will find themselves exploring the towns shops, looking for those illusive Canadian souvenirs and gifts, with locally made wines being especially popular. Shopping hours in Niagara on the Lake are usually between 09:00 or 10:00 until 17:00 or slightly later, Monday and Friday, with most shops opening on Saturday and Sunday, from 11:00 to 17:00.
However, during the quieter winter months of January, February and March, some stores do choose to reduce their shopping hours, only opening on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Whether you are shopping for high-street fashion and clothing, art works, music CDs and jewellery, you will find that Niagara on the Lake has a reasonable selection, certainly enough to easily fill an afternoon, with more than 20 different antique dealers alone.

The shopping scene is Niagara on the Lake is especially well developed along Queen Street, the town's main thoroughfare, although many of the shops here are rather 'touristy'. One of the most unusual of these stores is 'Just Christmas', which sells nothing other than Christmas decorations and ornaments, all year round.
Also when shopping in this area of Niagara on the Lake, do look out for Maple Leaf Fudge, a local store which has been selling its mouthwatering, homemade candy for more than 40 years, gaining quite a solid reputation locally.
Adjoining Queen Street, the Niagara Stone Road is another very prominent artery and home to stores such as the Bartlett House of Antiques, the Queens Antiques, and also Europa Antiques in the Old Church, which is housed within a beautiful and historical former red-brick church, dating back to the late 19th century.
Further shopping opportunities within Niagara on the Lake await along stretches such as York Road, and also Lakeshore Road, home to the Lakeside Pottery and Lakeshore Antiques.
